IS IT YOUR PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE OR YOUR PARENTS'?

You know i really get upset when i ask people what plan they have after school and they are like; well, my parents say i should do a master's degree then i'll probably do a PhD then do an MBA then most probably get a job. The problem is not in getting the degrees and accolades, the problem is: those are not your plans for your life, they are your parents' plan for your life. If you want to do all that, its fine. Your parents should guide you on the path of life not ride you on the path of life.

HEART'S CRY [ GUEST POST]

In life, do we always get what we want? Indeed we have needs and pressing issues you can’t always satisfy, but we strive to be contended with what we have.
Trust, why is it so difficult to find someone to trust; irrespective of what you have, who you are, who you are with. Is there any need to trust, one might ask. Life seems so sweet when you are alone with family , but it is also sweeter (pardon the word) when there is someone who cares to listen to what you have to say, who cares for you, who will appreciate what you do and help you stand on your feet when you fall. But is there such a person?

Some say I LOVE YOU but there is more to loving someone, it’s sweet when someone says I LOVE YOU, but love is not just a mere word, but sacrifice. But do they really love you or is it just a rite to say when you are in a relationship with someone? Well life is not all it seems to be but indeed you have the right to write down your life the way you want it to be. Life is not a bed of roses, even roses have thorns but what keeps a man after such great fall, after such comments from friends and people. Is it encouragement, fear of failing in the future or wanting to prove that he is not a failure? A wise man said when fear knocks at the door faith opens the door and you will find that there is no one there. Life is not a competition but the strive to be at the top is always there.

What makes a man fail after much encouragement for success? is it the ability of not looking above his present state and look at the future? some say its the mind set of determination, but sometimes you find determination but also regrets for failing the first time. The race is not to the swift nor to the strong. It is not how well you started but how well you ended the race. Nothing does good than self encouragement. Many have died full of potential. Why? because of the fear of trying again.

THIS IS MADNESS!!!!

Super Eagles National Honour
I love the Super Eagles so much, they made us extremely proud and by God's grace they won the AFCON. The part that is leaving me bewildered is the presentation of National Honours, Land and Money by the Government of Nigeria to the Super Eagles.
This is an excerpt from Linda Ikeji's blog
Coach Stephen Keshi - Commander of the Order of Niger. N10million. Plot of land in Abuja.
Asst Coach Daniel Amokachi - Officer of the Order of Niger. N5m. Plot of land in Abuja
Asst Coach Ike Shorumu - Officer of the Order of Niger. N5m. Plot of land in Abuja
Captain Joseph Yobo - Officer of the Order of Niger. N5million. Plot of land in Abuja
Super Eagles players - Member of the Order of Niger. N5million. Plot of land in Abuja
Technical crew - N2 million
Do we just dole out Commander of the Order of Niger? or give plots of land just like that? it means there's no real worth in all these National honours. All the Super Eagles players including those that played and those that did not, are holders of National Honours, lol!!!!. The big men of Nigeria are already fattening the Eagles by giving them lots of cash. The problem is; giving them cash and pumping money on them is shortsightedness, why don't we revamp the sports sector and make Nigerian football worth watching.

I still love my Country jare, we are filled with everyday drama......

SO NIGERIA IS NOW YOUR COUNTRY?

I really have to give a big kudos to the Super Eagles for their exclusive performance in the just concluded AFCON. Initially I was expecting them to return home sooner than today but they have really impressed us by defeating Burkina faso 1 goal to nil.
But its funny i'm now hearing shouts of Nigeria is my country, I love Nigeria, Nigeria is tight and the rest. I pity all of you lol. This is just a couple of days after president Jonathan was interviewed on CNN and we didnt spare any words on our beloved country (I'm saying beloved country now). But really Nigeria is the best country in the world, you may not like us, but you cant deny our effect.

5 "GREAT" WAYS TO KILL YOUR RELATIONSHIP

dead_relationship

In order to sustain a great  relationship, this should be the don'ts;

  1. Never play to win: What I mean is; never be in a destructive competition with your partner. Compete to build each other up.
  2. Never distrust: The beginning of the decline in Trust in a relationship is the beginning of the end of that relationship be it friendship or romantic relationship.
  3. Don't stop talking: Talk about what annoys you, talk about what you don't like in fact talk about everything and anything. Keeping quiet reflects a lack of trust. You are not accusing your partner, you are discussing with your partner.
  4. Don't stop listening: Listening is really hard ohhhhh.... listening is paying rapt attention without any interruption and deciphering every word spoken by your partner
  5. Don't stop working on your relationship: Because you guys love each other doesn't mean everything would be like me(SWEET). You need to work on the relationship and make it grow.
Relationships are a beautiful thing, it has a very positive effect if its a right relationship. Try as much as possible never to do any of the above mentioned "DON'Ts"

WHERE IS OUR PREMIER LEAGUE?

nigerian premier league

The Nigerian Football League was formed in 1972 and then renamed Nigerian Premier League in 1990 after their counterparts, English Premier League... But right now you can't compare the quality of the both games even though the they both bear "premier"...

So i ask, what exactly is wrong with our premier league?

JONATHAN SCORES 3/10 ON HIS INTERVIEW

I love my Country and I love my President because its not child's play to be the president of a country, not to talk of this complexity called Nigeria. The recent interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour on  issues pertaining to Nigeria was one I looked forward to watching because Im expriencing a paradigm shift on how I view my President. I wasn't very impressed but I won't say he needs to be impeached. President Jonathan made some very controversial statements especially with the one on Power Generation and he also didn't quite answer the questions to my satisfaction. I know he has good intentions but I doubt he has the Iron hands to mend what has taking over 30 years to degrade....

If he didn't want to prove himself capable and at least make Nigerians a bit happy with his administration,  I doubt he would have accepted the interview in the first place...

Why God Is Moving in Other Nations But Not in America

Culled from Charisma News
Jesus Christ

A few weeks ago I preached on the subject of worship using 2 Samuel 6, a passage that outlines King David's two attempts to bring the ark of the covenant to the city of Jerusalem.
On his first endeavor, David transported the ark in the way that seemed best to him--on a cart pulled by oxen--and lost one of his men in the process. God struck the man down for touching the ark while trying to steady it. David became disgusted, fearful and unwilling to move the ark any further, and he dropped it off at the house of Obed-Edom, a Philistine who had become a Jewish proselyte. When David left the ark, God visited Obed-Edom's house and blessed the man abundantly.
At this point in the story, I began to think about the church in America--our history and our now arguably beleaguered condition. For generations, the American church has prioritized sending purveyors of the gospel throughout the known world. Now we are hearing reports of God blessing the people we touched.
Vibrant churches in Asia, Africa and South America are multiplying--many under persecution--at rates that defy logic. In fact, the presence of God for which we in America now long, the move of God for which we are crying, seems to be visible everywhere U.S. missionaries have gone except America. Maybe we dropped off some things in those places that we need to pick up again.
When David heard of Obed-Edom's good fortune, he made an executive decision: Go get the ark! David wanted to bring the presence and blessings of God into his nation's midst. So does the American church. I submit that if we can recover our purpose, passion and prayer life, we can experience God in ways we've never dreamed and become the catalyst for change our society desperately needs.
Purpose. When Jesus established His church, He was clear about its destiny: "The gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18, KJV). If hell's gates are fighting to hold our children, our cities and our country captive, then hell must understand that we have the power to prevail. Now is the time to remember we were born to overcome our enemy.
Passion. When purpose exits, passion is never far behind. David allowed his failure with the ark to destroy his passion to re-establish worship as the central focus in Judah and Israel. He became angry, confused and afraid.
In Revelation, Jesus speaks strong words about passion to the church at Ephesus. While the works of Ephesus had been purposeful and consistent, the Lord took issue with the church. The Ephesians had forgotten their first love, a lack of regard that could have cost them the entire ministry (see Rev. 2:4-5).
We must do what Ephesus was commanded to do: repent and remember. Repent of our fall from passionate pursuit of God and His will. Remember where we used to be in our relationship with Jesus and return to that place.
Prayer. Before successfully retrieving the ark from the house of Obed-Edom, David learned that God had a protocol for the ark's transport. Rather than being pulled on a cart by oxen, the ark was to be carried on the shoulders of the priests. Technology and ingenuity can be assets in the church as we work to expand God's kingdom, but we must shoulder the presence of God ourselves--in prayer.
Our nation is blessed, and often that very blessing deters revival. The dearth of prayer in the American church has less to do with our schedules and more to do with our dependence on ourselves. When we become convinced that our own efforts are in vain, we can begin to give attention to the only source of power capable of addressing the issues of our day: the power of God through prayer.
God is no respecter of persons. What He is doing in the nations He will do in America if we give Him preeminence in our lives. The ark of the covenant was a picture of the presence of God. If our churches will arm themselves with God's presence again, we, too, can experience the greatest days of the church.

WE NEED AN AFRICAN "ALJAZEERA"

Iweanya Writes
This write up came up after I read a book that described how CNN paints the African continent as really poor and daft.Whenever they discuss about the African continent its always about the bad stuff that goes on the continent. They speak with authority but with a high level of partiality.

The Arabs got tired of this impartiality and by the wisdom of their leader, Aljazeera was formed with the aim of providing accurate and impartial news with a global, international perspective. Aljazeera broadcasts both the good stuff and the bad that goes on in the Arab world with fairness.

We here in Africa have allowed the "BRAGADOCIOUS" CNN tell us what and who we are, I believe its time we broadcast from Africa to the world with fairness the GOOD and BAD that goes on in Africa because Africa is not synonymous with CRIME, EVIL and ATROCITIES....

I have decided to start posting positive and negative realities that go on, not just waiting for PATIENCE JONATHAN to make a grammatical error or JONATHAN to make a slight mistake in his speech because Africa is worth much more than what the MEDIA show us.......

OH NO!! HE JUST BROKE YOUR HEART

Tears

The end of a relationship, and a cherished one at that, sometimes leaves one feeling quite disillusioned with life. If it has happened to you, take heart and remember that sooner or later, the feeling of misery will subside. So go through the following points and get over being dumped.

Accept the present situation
Start by accepting that the relationship has ended. Hard as it may sound, it is very necessary to be realistic at this stage and face the fact that your partner is not coming back. You cannot begin the healing process unless you consciously realize that your relationship is over.

Avoid the let's-be-friends trap
The fastest way to get over being dumped is to cut off all manner of contact with your ex. There is no sense in wanting to remain “friends” as it will only encourage hopes of reconciliation and thus further delay the healing process. Make a clean break and get on with your life.

Don’t succumb to a rebound relationship
Breaking up may goad you into having an affair, just to prove the point that not everybody thinks you a loser. But remember, rebound affairs never work, because you are just not emotionally ready for a new relationship. And even if you are not serious about it yourself, it is grossly unfair to the other person, who may not be aware of your real feelings.

Value your friends more
There is no substitute for real friends, they are always there even the hard times

Don't worry, there's always someone who will cherish and love you

MR. GURU MAHARA JI... YOU NEED HELP

Guru Mahara ji

I just finished reading a lengthy interview with the man whose picture appears above, and with all what I've read I believe this man is either very confused and really needs help or he's situation is just damned.

He said "all of them (pastors) use juju. How can a pastor touch somebody and he falls down? That one is juju at work. Our people are very foolish and ignorant. How can you touch somebody and he falls down? There is something behind this". So I want to believe he hasn't read the BIBLE and therefore doesn't know about the power and manifestations of the HOLY SPIRIT.

But i got really confused when I heard him quote this from the bible "The wages of sin is death" after he was asked "Is it true, as some people claimed, that you once said that you would never die?" Now read his response to this question;
When one is transformed into spirituality, you no longer talk about death. Man is talking about mortality and immortality because he accepted teachings brought by the Europeans without finding out how true these teachings are. When you talk about death, it negates the principles of our existence. They say God is light, and in Him there is no darkness, and darkness can’t comprehend it. So, why is death coming in?

The true name of our creator is Maharaj Ji, and with my coming, light has come. Now, the light will be guiding my followers wherever they are going, so that with the knowledge they have acquired they will not commit sin. As it was written in the Bible that the wages of sin is death, but the moment you are lifted above, you will live in the spirit, and when you live in the spirit you will have knowledge.
Since I live in the spirit, and I’m the fountain of knowledge, I’m immortal. I can’t die. Why should I die physically? I can’t die physically. I will not die. Even it is said in the Scripture that man is the perfect image of God. Can God die? Since I’m a perfect image of God, I can’t die. Is it a sin to live till eternity? I have both the physical body and the spirit. If you look at the Scriptures, where did you see or read about people seeing dead bodies of previous masters like Moses, Elijah and others. Death means nothing to me – man is an image of the creator, so I don’t believe in death.
Sir, even the Bible you claim you read says "Remove the Log of wood in your eye before considering the speck in another man's eye" If you say they use jazz, no problem, but i guess it should be someone more sane and spiritual that has the audacity to say such......

WHEN A WOMAN SAYS THIS:

Woman

1. I think of you as a brother.
Translation: You give me the creeps.

2. There's a slight difference in our ages.
Translation: I may as well be dating my dad.

3. I'm not attracted to you in 'that' way.
Translation: I don't want to be seen in public with a dork like you.

4. My life is too complicated right now.
Translation: I'm busy seeing other guys. Who are you again?

5. I've got a boyfriend.
Translation: I'd rather be with my male cat and a half gallon of Ben and Jerry's.

6. I don't date men where I work.
Translation: I wouldn't date you if you were in the same solar system, much less the same building.

7. It's not you, it's me.
Translation: It's you.

8. I'm concentrating on my career.
Translation: Even something as boring and unfulfilling as my job is better than dating you.

9. I'm saved, so my heart belongs to God.
Translation: I've sworn off men like you.

10. Let's be friends.
Translation: I want you to stay around so I can tell you in excruciating detail about all the other men I meet and go out with. I appreciate the male perspective.

THE AWESOMENESS OF WOMEN

Woman

I know, I Know, I like Women too much; but I just really marvel at this wonderful beings.....

You see the grace in the eyes of a pregnant woman, the virtue in her speech..
You see their exceptional ability to be creative.
You feel the Love in her heart and the warmth it emanates..
You see the Rivers of Living Water flowing from her belly..

Pardon my love for Women its just that I have a new found respect for them

God was very thoughtful when he created the Woman...

Fashion in Nigeria: Trends that rocked 2012

2012 was undoubtedly a memorable year. From the Fuel subsidy removal in January, to the fire incident in Lagos in December. Anyways, back to the issue at hand. Here are the trends that rocked the Nigerian fashion scene in 2012

THE COLOR BLOCK:
Whether we like it or not, we have to admit to the fact that there are rules guiding color-blocking. The art of color blocking entails combining different bold colors of the same shade + the confidence to rock the outfit. I would like my fellow Nigerian ladies to note that there is a limit to the number of colors that can be worn at once. I also want to point out that it is best to use solid colors. However, you can use prints IF you are bold enough to pull it off. Finally, I would like to say that color blocking is not for everyone.  Not every Tom, Dick and Harry (or rather, not every Amaka, Sikira or Bolanle) can pull it off. Just checkout this CU student;

THE PEPLUM:

The word ‘peplum’ originates from the Pakistani word for “tunic”. The peplum is a short overskirt usually attached to a fitted jacket, blouse, skirt or dress. I have two words for this trend: classy and graceful. However, there are some that are horrendous; for example, if it looks frilly like the valances around a bed, then it is a total No-No!

THE SATCHEL & THE MESSENGER BAG:
They are both retro style utilitarian bags. While the latter is aptly named after the bags traditionally carried through history by messengers, the former is a soft sided bag used traditionally by old English schoolboys for carrying books! My dear Nigerians, *holds ear*, a satchel is different from a messenger bag! U dey hear me so? A satchel has a long, detachable strap, with a small strap on top, while a messenger bag has a non-detachable strap. A satchel is more suitable for professional and formal occasions because of its tailored conservative style while a messenger bag‘s laid back style has a classic, casual flair. They both come in various shapes, sizes, colors, etc. and are both suitable for both sexes.

THE SHAMBALLA BRACELET:
This trend was unarguably BIG!
The Shamballa bracelet was founded by Danish Brothers:Mads and Mikkel Kornerup in 2004. Its design was inspired by Buddhist faith. It comes in various colors(each believed to have different meanings to suit dofferent personalities) and sizes. It is suitable for everyday looks, as well as professional and red carpet looks.

This are some of the trends that rocked 2012..... let's watch out for 2013!!!!

LESSONS FROM SOMEWHERE

  1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
  2. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
  3. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
  4. When you say, "I love you," mean it.
  5. When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.
  6. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
  7. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
  8. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
  9. In disagreements, fight fairly. Please No name calling.
  10. Don't judge people by their relatives.
  11. Talk slowly but think quickly.
  12. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"
  13. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
  14. Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.
  15. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
  16. Remember the three R's:    Respect for self;  Respect for others;    Responsibility for all your actions.
  17. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  18. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  19. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
  20. Spend some time alone.

10 REASONS LIONEL MESSI IS HATED

Culled from: MSN SPORTS

1. Messi never reacts to fouls
Not for Lionel the lash-out in retaliation or the seeking of retribution. If an opposition defender drove a tank onto the pitch and tried to mow Messi down, he’d probably just dive out of the way, get up again and take the free kick. He’s serene, like a mini-Buddha. Thinking about it, Pepe probably hasn’t ruled out a tank for the next clasico. Watch out, Leo.

2. He isn't addicted to Twitter
Social media obviously doesn’t interest our man. He has an official Twitter page, but it’s clearly not run by him and all it seems to do is retweet official Barcelona tweets about Pep Guardiola. Where are the inter-player feuds, man? Come on, get a grip. Give us something.

3. Messi's too loyal
Seriously, what is the point of football if its main protagonists aren’t going to make eyes at other clubs every January and August? Messi has never even considered moving to another club and probably still sleeps in the FC Barcelona duvet he first had at La Masia. Pathetic.

4. He's a team player
Messi may be the best player in the world, but he’s also undoubtedly a team player. He gets on well with all his teammates and it’s hard to find an opposition player with a bad word to say about him. Where are the Ronaldo-esque tantrums? Where’s the pouting when he misses a chance? Stop being so REASONABLE.

5. Messi is easy to manage
The diminutive Argentine is a dream to manage and performs whatever role is asked of him without a fuss. This is unacceptable. He needs to start arguing back, chipping off in press conferences (which makes for easy copy) and storming out of mixed zones. Then we’d be getting somewhere.

6. Messi is a happy drunk who only drinks occasionally
Lionel only drinks on special occasions when appropriate. When Barcelona won the treble in 2009, he appeared on the team bus during the parade, drunk as a lord but in a good-natured way. Again, this is all so reasonable. When is he going to start breaking curfews and drinking the night before a game? Where are the fights? Has he learnt nothing from Wayne Rooney?

7. He scores too many goals
Seriously, it’s so dull. Journalists all around the world covering Barcelona games just write the same thing over and over again every single time. It goes something like this: ‘...running out of superlatives to describe the Barcelona number 10.’ Can’t he just go on a barren run? Just once?

8. Messi has gained popularity in Argentina
There used to be some easy copy in writing about how our man wasn’t as loved in Argentina as he was in Europe, but that’s gone out the window as well. He’s had a great year at international level and now just about everyone across the South Atlantic loves him. Annoying.

9. He's had his hair cut
The man’s even got a sensible haircut these days. A couple of years ago when he was rocking the flowing locks, he looked a bit like he was in an indie band with Zlatan and Carles Puyol. Not any more. That was obviously far too dangerous for him. Short(ish) back and sides, please.

10. Messi is an athlete
If all this wasn’t enough, he appears to take his fitness and general athleticism seriously too. He hasn’t got an iota of fat on him. Again, boring. Where’s the off-season beer belly? Why so many rippling muscles? It just makes us all feel inadequate. Is that what you want, Leo? Is it? Why do you hate us so much?

But Messi is no doubt the World's Best Player....

MOST NIGERIAN BLOGS LACK INTELLECTUAL CONTENT.

A couple of days back while in Lagos, I was engaged in a discussion with a friend and somehow I managed to tell him I had a blog. The next thing he said was, "So you've joined them?" I was baffled and so i asked him what he meant and he said "Everybody is now blogging, especially Gossip and Entertainment" I had to sit him down and tell him I generate my content and sometimes research before I post anything.

After the discussion, I decided to do a little research on Nigerian blogs that possess intellectual content and I discovered that everybody wants to be like Linda Ikeji. The very funny thing was that on some blogs, news from Linda Ikeji's blog is lifted word for word and posted on the site. Baba, you cant be like her jare, go and create your own signature.

That's why some blogs like Bellanaija, Ofilispeaks, Relentless Builder and the rest inspire me.......

DOES YOUR PRESIDENT INSPIRE YOU?

I watch President Barack Obama's speeches and I'm almost considering moving to tears. The hope of a better future is rekindled by his speech, the energy to continue living the American dream is revitalised.... But when I watch my president speak on touchy issues, I wonder what goes on in his mind. His recent utterance which is now all over the blogosphere goes thus: "THE VIOLENCE IN NIGERIA COULD BE A SIGN OF THE END TIMES" are you kidding me? He is speaking to people who have watched their loved ones die avoidable deaths, people who have lost valuable properties, worst of all he is speaking to Nigerians not Mayans.... Hope for a better future is the least he should have given us. I really hope he has not squandered his chance to make Nigerians believe in him....

DO YOU BELIEVE IN #NEW_YEAR_RESOLUTIONS ?

I used to be a very big fan of new year resolutions, until I figured out that around March, April I'm usually back to square one. I don't want to speak for us, but please if you do believe in New Year resolutions and it has helped you, please state so... I could borrow a cue from you...

(The picture above is my current resolution though..)

HAPPY NEW YEAR

2012 has come and gone and we are now ushered into the new year. All the things you couldn't achieve in 2013 , many more shall you achieve this new year.

But remember, 2013 is not a year of magical happenings; if you were wise in 2012 you probably will be wise or wiser in 2013, if you were otherwise; the same applies.

I love you so much. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! MUAH!!!!!!!!!!

REST IN PERFECT PEACE #CLEOPATRA_OMABUWA

The fact that you were a student of Covenant University, makes me feel like I've lost a family member. You left here earlier than us doesn't make us any better than you. Your close friends call you a rare gem, you were a beauty to behold.

On behalf of the students of Covenant University, we pray that God Almighty gives your family and friends the fortitude to bear this huge loss.

We love you deeply but it can't be compared to the love God has for you

Cleopatra Omabuwa was a 200 level student in Covenant University.
(May the soul of the faithful departed, rest in perfect peace)

THE CALABAR PORNIVAL

I'm Iweanya Victor and not Linda Ikeji so I'll spare you some obscenities.
If the idea of a carnival is showcasing body parts in ridiculously dynamic ways I'll be on the run whenever I hear the name "Carnival"..... It takes a strong man to remain sane after a view at the calabar carnival....

WHAT KEEPS A RELATIONSHIP?

So, I'll be writing a little on what I feel keeps a relationship strong.. Is it money, sex, God, Allah, Budha, Love or whatever you name it? I don't think the answer is in the aforementioned options...

What I feel keeps a relationship strong is KNOWLEDGE; yes KNOWLEDGE. Have you not heard of cases where a man and his wife get divorced and they love each other so much? or cases where the woman says: "I love him but I can't live with him". Love is not the problem in these cases, KNOWLEDGE is.

Knowledge of how to treat a lady, Knowledge of her likes and dislikes, Knowledge of your individual roles in the relationship, Knowing that you don't know and working towards knowing, Knowledge of communication principles... The list could go on and on.
Apart from love and God being present in a relationship, KNOWLEDGE is a unique ingredient in the total package....

2012: A YEAR OF THE HOLOCAUST

With barely three days to the new year, a review of our actions in 2012 is highly necessary. Its no doubt that Nigeria was on autopilot, with the pilot and his crew looking desperately to gain control of the aircraft. Nigerians got their ears irritated with so many sanctimonious speeches and thus we became an epitome of "Talk is cheap".

Fuel Subsidy removal: Nigerians wouldn't be in a hurry to forget this day;January 1st, 2012 as this was the day our aircraft started going off course. We woke up to be rudely injected with the venomous substance of fuel subsidy removal. A lot of promises were made on what the funds gotten from subsidy removal would be used for but really what can we see? People died protesting for their rights; but we are used to people dying in vain in Nigeria.

Plane Crashes: The first plane crash this year occurred on March 14, when a helicopter conveying the newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Haruna John, and three other senior police officers crashed in Jos.
June 3 saw the highly avoidable air crash of Dana airlines killing all 153 passengers on board and 10 people on the ground.
Still in june, a cargo plane attempting to take off from Ghana, crashed killing 10 people and injuring many more.
October 25, the Governor of Yola state crashed in his private jet in a hill in Adamawa. Luckily nobody died.
December 15, a Navy helicopter crashed in Bayelsa state killing all on board including some dignitaries.

ALUU killings: In October, four students of the University of Port Harcourt were gruesomely killed. They were; Ugona Kelchi Obuzor, 200 level Geology; Biringa Lordson, 200 level Theatre Arts; Mike Lloyd; 200 level Civil Engineering and Tekena Erikena. They were falsely accused of stealing a Laptop and were pounced on by a retarded group of people.

Fires, Massacres, Accidents, Kidnappings, Floods, Jonathan's gift to UNILAG, Olympics flop and so many written and unwritten tragedies.
The issue is not brooding about this events but how can we see a change in 2013? Sanctimonious vague speeches is definitely not the solution.

THE LOGIC BEHIND BANGERS

I was walking along my street a couple of days back; and the next thing I heard was a very loud "gbooom". I looked for the nearest cover anticipating some men with masks and ammunition, only to see small children laughing at me; I was so mad but I had to laugh along with them lest I fall my hand.

I've always wondered since then; how a loud sound capable of cancelling a hypertensive patient be signifying celebration. You can't even differentiate a gunshot from some type of bangers. I know we are still primitive and can't appreciate the beauty of fireworks that go into the sky and emanate very beautiful lights but would rather stick to heart shattering sounds which are not even permitted in the countries that make them.

I love festive periods, in fact they are best times of the year, but bangers; no way. Beautiful fireworks exist even if we must play with fire in the name of celebration.....
