The Things That Truly Matter

There are very few things in life that really matter...

We waste spend  a lot of time worrying–worrying about what was, what might have been, what should be, could be, will never be. We worry about the inevitable, the possible, the probable, and the unlikely. We worry about what people think and say and believe and how they feel. We worry about things that We cannot change, cannot know, and will never control.

When it comes down to it, there are very few things in life that really matter. What matters most–and always–is what’s real and right in front of you and yours to value and cherish and protect. What matters most are the people you love and the people who love you. Once you whittle your life down to the essence, suddenly everything becomes easier.

Here's a list of what i think really matters in life;
  1. God
  2. Family
  3. Clean breath.
  4. Sound digestion.
  5. Good quality sleep.
  6. A daily connection with nature—even  watering your plants or taking a walk in the park count!
  7. Being able to keep your promises.
  8. A dream to aspire to.
  9. A hobby or leisure activity that soothes and ignites your soul.
  10. A real friend: someone you can really talk to, cry before and laugh with.
  11. The comfort of a meal or movie shared with family.
  12. The luxury of a place of your own—even if it is a cosy little nook in a tiny home.
  13. The joy of coming  back to a home that invites you to relax.
  14. Celebrating  the small victories and joys of life rather than waiting for big dollops of good news.
  15. Being able to see the silver lining.
  16. Being able to listen before you judge.
  17. Waking up with something more than just routine work  to look forward to.
  18. Going to bed knowing that you made someone’s day a little happier today.
Easier said than done, for sure. It is our nature to worry and regret and lament. Such a waste of time. There are so few things that really matter. Spend your time enjoying that which makes you the best person you can be. If you don’t have that in your life now, then I wish you well in finding it. If you do, and you’re still looking for more, then stop. Otherwise, you will get lost in the muck and forget to notice that what you have is really all you need.

Reach for the stars, but stay grounded in what makes you feel alive. Never take for granted that what surrounds you now will be there forever. Don’t overlook what you have in favor of looking for something better. Chances are that what you have is better than many people can ever imagine!
